COMB: V-shaped-very small,the smaller the better,resting on front of crest,each side level,preference to be given to birds without any comb CREST: Very Large, abundantly feathered, rising well in front of head in a manner that does not obstruct sight, flowing well over back and sides of head in a compact mass, feathers similar in shape and texture to those of hackle. BEAK: Medium length,slightly curved. NOSTRILS: Large , wide, cavernous, rising above curved line of beak. FACE: Fine in quality, free from wrinkles or folds EYES: large, round, bold WATTLES: Non-bearded- medium sized,almond shaped, well rounded at ends. Bearded- very small to non existant, concealed by beard. EAR-LOBES: Non bearded- medium sized, free from wrinkles or folds. Bearded- very Small, entirely concealed by muffs. HEAD: Large in comparison with size of bird, and with a decidedly prominent protuberance on forward section of skull, crested. Bearded varieties-Composed of feathers turned horizontally backwards, from both sides of beak, from the center, vertically downwards, the whole forming a collar of three ovals in a triangular group, giving a muffled effect. NECK: Medium length, moderately arched. HACKLES: Abundant, flowing well down over back and shoulders, almost meeting in front of neck. BACK: Fairly long, straight,broad at shoulders, tapering & sloping to tail. HACKLE: Abundant, flowing well over wing tips, filling space between abdomen and tail coverts. TAIL: Large, well expanded, carried well back, increasing apparent length of bird,held at an angle of about 45 degrees above the horizontal.Main Tail-feathers wide and neatly overlapping, well expanded. Sickles & lesser sickles- abundant, long, wide, well curved. Coverts- abundant, long. WINGS: Moderately long and large, closely folded, carried well above lower thighs. Primaries- moderate width, completely concealed by secondaries. Secondaries-Broad, tapering convexly to stern, but not beyond, wing bay concealed by saddle. BREAST: Moderately Full, projecting well beyond wing fronts. BODY AND STERN: Body- medium length, compact, well proportioned. Stern- fluff, short. LEGS AND TOES: Legs- Medium length, Wide set,straight when viewed from front. Lower thighs- medium length, well feathered, tapering neatly to hocks. Shanks- medium length, smooth, nicely scaled. DISQUALIFICATIONS: Absence of knob on head- Absence of wide cavernous nostrils. White in crest of cockerals and pullets of laced varieties.
DEFECTS: Split crest- twisted or reverse-faced feathers in crest-Neck unduly long and/or narrow- abrupt break at junction of back and tail and sickle feathers- Wings carried too low.
DEFECTS FOR LACED BIRDS: Black peppering in wings and tail-Black peppering or mossiness in ground color- Black ends on lower back feathers and tail coverts- Frosting in various sections of the plumage- general color of plumage too light- Lacing too heavy- Spangling or moon marks instead of lacing- White in crest- White in flight and/or main tail feathers- Mossiness in various sections of plumage of laced varieties-Lack of activity, sluggishness-While white in the crests of cockerals and pullets of laced varieties will not be tolerated, judges shall not penalize adult birds for white "aged feathers" in the crest- Attempts are made by some breeders to improve lacing in the hackle, back and saddle of the Golden and Silver Polish bantam male by the introduction of Golden and/or Silver Sebright blood;hence the judge should be on the alert for "hen feathering" in these sections and if found, they should be cut severly.
